Yes, I know… we’ve slackened off and eased things up for a bit.
I can give you any number of excuses – not the least of which is that nearly our entire household has been trying to shake a persistent cold/flu for most of the last 2-3 weeks, but really… I think it’s just a case of slackitis – we haven’t done as much as we should have to keep things moving forward.
There has been a few things happening under the covers though, I have 3 new twitter profiles up and running targeting a couple of different market segments to see if I can get some interest on a couple of different topics. It’s still a work in progress, but some good experimentation going on, and it’s hard to improve if you don’t test how something works, analyse the results and improve, improve, improve.
We’re also starting to see a bit more Google traffic starting to filter through… the site has been up for a while now and we’re slowly starting to climb up the google rankings. An interesting search term we’re starting to rank for is ‘self doubt blogs‘ where we’re on the 2nd page of Google, pointing to our key article on what we learned from 10 Awesome bloggers about overcoming self-doubt. It’s one of our most popular articles for sure and it’s nice to see some of these organic search rankings start to build naturally.
Keep playing around with Video
The big trend at the moment is live video streaming via Periscope… and it’s actually pretty cool. Look out for Izak and I to start doing a few periscope experiments over the next few weeks. We will probably do most of our status report updates on there – it’ll be nice to get some real time feedback (and accountability).
My periscope profile is @Martyj75 for those who want to follow along… just download the app on your phone and start following me. Izak should have a profile setup in the next few days… I’ve got a suspicion that his could be mostly Star Wars related stuff, but we’ll see what happens 😉
Periscope videos only stay active for 24 hours, so you have to make sure you keep up to date with your favourite people or you’ll miss some really cool stuff.
What’s happening in the next 14 days?
The next 14 days is all about getting back on track… here’s our action plan:
- Start doing Periscope videos. Watch and learn from others to see what’s working well, jump in there and start streaming.
- Continue social profiles to gauge interest in new market segments… start building some content around the one with the best engagement.
- Post something interesting on Epic14Days that starts to generate a few more email signups.
I think that about covers it… small steps, keep going forward.
Once again, thanks to everyone who drops in and reads our blog – we really do appreciate it. We’ve had some nice comments from a few people who got a bit inspired and jumped in and started their own businesses lately, which is awesome. The more people who jump in and take this journey with us, the better… we’re here to help in any way we can.
